Notes from Ireland:
The Mountains of Mourne. Not kidding.

Drumlins are the answer. The question was why the part of Ireland we were in had so many rolling hills of equal size in all directions.

Can you spot the K-H instabilities in this photo? Spot the flag of allegiance, as well. These are seen in many Northern Irish towns.

Dipping my toes in the Spinkwee.

The festive atmosphere at the JK 2011.

In other news:
Just before we left for Ireland I got a confirmation of a hotel reservation that I hadn't made -- with my details including my bank card details. I cancelled the reservation and the bank card and all seems OK, but it was still a bit of a scare.
I'm wondering if the bumble bees will be nesting in our stone wall again this summer.
It turns out I can write legible notes to myself in the dark while in a moving vehicle.
I'm struggling to keep up in a 5-week online course when two of those weeks are me being on holiday. And the sun is shining. Hmmmmmm.
We're up in Ullapool for the next four days, so have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
Great pics from Ireland,
ReplyDeleteMarieke! I hope the weather will be fine in the Lake District. Enjoy!
Ullapool. Fond memories. Sigh. Is the ceilidh place still there?
ReplyDeleteIf you haven't been to Inverewe, it is well worth a stop, even if the rhodies aren't out at their prime, and the mecanopsis isn't blooming yet (and if you are an anti-rhodi snob, as I sometimes am, the glory of the giant species rhododendrons perfectly situated at Inverewe might make you change your mind, or might make you think that nobody else should bother unless they can grow them like that).
Lovely pictures. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteTa, all. Ullapool was great. Spent some time at The Ceilidh Place listening to great music. Sorry we missed Inverewe. My fault. More pics to come.
