Bookmarks and things

I haven't been reading very much lately, guys! I've been doing more things with my hands -- knitting, making bookmarks, fiddling around with jewellery. (Yes, that's how it's spelled here.)

However, Sarah Waters' The Night Watch on audio is a great accompaniment to all those hands-on activities. More on that later! I'm only about a third of the way into it, but it's fabulous.

Meanwhile, here are some of the bookmarks I've made (click on images to enlarge). Cutting up old issues of National Geographic has always been one of my favorite pastimes.

I once added to a National Geographic collage that partially covered four walls and the ceiling of a tiny forest cabin near Yosemite. I worked on it all summer long until every inch of the interior was plastered in images.

Now, you can see I've had some good luck with recent issues, plus the international stamp collection from the bookstore.

Be good and Santa might bring you a bookmark for Christmas this year.

Those bookmarks are lovely, Marieke! Did you know Santa thinks highly of me? I've been good....

Only joking! I admire people that can make such beautiful things. Do you laminate them? I assume so.

  2. Thank you Judith, I'm glad you like them. You've entered into a long-standing debate that's been going on in my head -- to laminate or not to laminate! My other option would be to coat them with ModPodge -- but the drawback is that it tends to leave the surface slightly sticky (in this climate). I better laminate them.
