This is a quiz. And you know what that means. PRIZES!
Define the following adjectives as best you can, and use each one in a sentence to demonstrate how the word is used. Do this without looking them up in a dictionary or search engine, otherwise known as cheating. For extra points, try to make me laugh. If you're not sure, humour counts.
Points are awarded at my discretion and according to a secret system. Prizes are Scottish paraphernalia or something quintessentially British that fits in an envelope. If you're British, this is probably all terribly boring.
The best responses may be published on this blog after the quiz is closed, but I will withhold your name if you prefer.
To enter, please send your responses by email (can be found on Profile page) with an appropriate subject line, and leave a comment below saying that you've entered.

Oh, this is jolly good fun! I lived in the UK for 15 years, but I'm not a native. I know 8 or 9 of these. Will send in my answers when I'm finished.
ReplyDeleteI need to have a wee think over some of these. :-)
The only one I don't know is dreich - I'm off to phone a Scottish person so I can find out the answer! I'd love to see guesses from those that don't know :-) I'd also like to know what you think the answer to number 1 is - the original meaning is quite different to its normal use now.
ReplyDeleteMy (probably disqualified) answers have been submitted.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Judith, I got your entry.
ReplyDeleteJackie?? You can still enter!
SS, I got yours too, thanks.
