I'm applying for a new job! In fact, I'm procrastinating from writing my application letter AS WE SPEAK. So, time to get on with that... right.

I just finished Fledgling by Octavia Butler. Damn, that woman knows how to keep me up late at night. I just CANNOT put her books down. I was hooked on Kindred and Fledgling was just as addictive.
The Not the TV Book Group will be discussing Fledgling this coming Sunday, May 23, hosted by kimbofo at Reading Matters. Drop on by and add to the conversation if you like! This will be my first time joining in.

I found Remarkable Creatures by Tracy Chevalier at the library and am looking forward to reading about DINOSAURS and LADIES WHO DISCOVERED THEM. Two of my favorite things. Plus, since Andy and I just visited the English coast and found some fossils ourselves, this seems especially timely.

The other thing keeping me up late at night is Brokeback Mountain by Annie Proulx, also borrowed from the library. She really is that good. I wish I were reading it now instead of
Two other books I'm salivating over and haven't yet started:

Sexing the Cherry by Jeanette Winterson -- I have no idea what this is about even though I have read several reviews. Something about a giant Dog-Woman and a pineapple?

One Dimensional Woman by Nina Power -- Some current feminist thought. Looks friendly. And pink. Borrowed from a friend.
Now I really have to start that letter!
I'm looking forward to your thoughrs on Fledgling. I've yet to read any Butler besides scattered short stories, but she's an author I suspect I'll love. Also, Remarkable Creatures sounds SO good!
