More news from the west of Scotland:

Oban man accused of biting off victim's finger
The Oban Times, Thursday January 15 2009
An Oban man has been accused of biting off an alleged victim's fingertip and throwing an axe at him.
Does the phrase "Only in Scotland" apply here?

Wrong name, wrong address, but card is delivered
The Oban Times, Thursday January 15 2009
A Christmas card with the wrong name and wrong address on it went to at least seven different sorting offices before it found its way to its rightful owner on Colonsay... "They had the wrong name, the wrong farm, wrong county and actually the wrong country... We once got a card addressed to 'The Shepherdess on the farm opposite Jura' and that got to me too!"

I would argue with anyone who claimed that the UK doesn't have the best mail delivery service in the entire world. I mean really. At our office we received a card before Christmas wrongly addressed to the partner of an employee, with the name misspelled, addressed to a house they lived at over a year ago. How anyone knew that the card would get to them by coming to our office, I'll never figure out. It all comes down to being in a small town -- everybody knows everything about everyone else.
