Quilting with Grandma

It's finally done--the wedding quilt Grandma Marge made for Andy and me. (And I helped with the borders, the quilting and the binding.)

It's a treasure trove of detail. You can find sheep, cherries, pine trees, pumpkins, manatees, orcas, blueberries, Italian pasta, a piano, chili peppers, chickens, leaves, rock walls, and flowers galore.

What a project! I learned a lot, not having had much experience with a sewing machine before this. The long-arm quilting machine was quite an exciting thing to operate. Quilting is the process of sewing the top, middle, and bottom layers of the quilt together using decorative stitches that accent the fabrics used in the quilt.

As you can see, I go with a "random squiggles" approach to quilting. This is the back of the quilt.
